Most places rurqiee that your Rx be stable for at least one year; sometimes longer. If you wear soft contacts, you'll need to be out of them for a week or two before having a LASIK work-up; you'll need to be out of gas permeable contacts for several weeks or months since those types of lenses can distort your corneas. You also need to be tested to make sure that you meet certain other criteria such as tear production, corneal thickness, and pupil size, amoung other things. Was this answer helpful?

TO: HelenRE: This is 'New'??!?!?"A new study from the New England Journal of Medicine shows that shortness of btaerh is a new sign for heart disease...." -- HelenCripes! One would have thought they 'new' this a long time ago. Then there was the recent realization that—Hey!—maybe sleep apnea causes heart disease and not the other way around. What a bunch of bozos. No wonder I'm so often disappointed in what passes for 'modern medicine' around here. Reading the Sharpe's Rifles series and they keep bleeding the sick and wounded and I keep reading stuff like THIS and think, there's not that much change over the last 200 years. At least not in terms of the basic mentality.Merry Christmas,Chuck(le)

FMLA does not offer paid time off, it just allows an eyolpmee to have time off to take care of a sick family member. So he may be allowed time off to take care of you, but if he does not have some vacation or sick time to use it will not be paid time off.Since he hasn't been at the job for a long time, and since your surgery is elective don't you think it would be more prudent to have another family member who does not work help you out? Depending on the surgery, do you REALLY need help? Most people recovering from surgery recover just fine by laying on the sofa with the tv remote control. What do you expect your husband will have to do for you?
